Bursa CEO willing to take the rap
"Obviously the management would have to bear the responsibility and since I'm head of management, I have to be fully accountable,” he said when asked who would be held responsible for the failure.
The high profile failure of the trading system has brought up talk about Yusli's future in Bursa, a subject that he admitted rested with the board of directors of the exchange.
"I don't decide my contract. All the senior management of Bursa are on contract and it's the board's prerogative if they want to keep us on contract,” he told the media yesterday.

Board chairman Datuk Markiman Kobiran said that this was to replace the current system of tickets lasting a whole day for many trips.
RapidKL has been told to make the needful arrangements immediately and to notify the public on the implementation date soon, he said.
Cucu Tok Selampit: Dear Mr Flip Flop PM. Enough is enough. Don't you think your son is rich enough. No need to help him to rob the people anymore. I beg you.
PI retracts declaration
KUALA LUMPUR: Political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda's private investigator P. Balasubramaniam on Friday retracted the statutory declaration which he made less than 24 hours ago.
In a startling turn of events Balasubramaniam revealed in a second statutory declaration that he wished "to retract the entire contents of my statutory declaration dated July 1 2008. I was compelled to affirm the said statutory declaration under duress".
The document also read that all statements made were inaccurate and not the truth.
A visibly perturbed Balasubramaniam remained mum on Friday when met by pressmen who had rushed to a hotel here where his new lawyer Arulampalam Mariam Pillai accompanied him for the brief press conference.
Dressed in a cap and T-shirt Balasubramaniam refused to answer questions posed to him and left quickly after his lawyer distributed the second statutory declaration to reporters.
Arulampalam also refused to entertain pressmen, giving only a brief statement that his client was under duress and that he was upset.
The new statutory declaration withdrew all statements that Balasubramaniam had revealed to a packed press conference organised by PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at party headquarters on Thursday.
This included the fact that he had informed police what political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda had purportedly told him prior to Altantuya's murder.
The 10 statements highlighted in the second statutory declaration dated July 4 were:
* At no material time did Razak inform him (Balasubramaniam) that the former was introduced to Altantuya Shaariibuu by a VIP;
* At no material time did Razak inform him that Najib had a sexual relationship with Altantuya and that she was "susceptible to anal intercourse";
* At no material time did Razak inform him that Najib instructed Razak to look after Altantuya as he did not want her to harass him since he (Najib) was the Deputy Prime Minister;
* At no material time did Razak and/or Altantuya inform him that Najib, together with Razak and Altantuya had met and all been together at a dinner in Paris;
* At no material time did Altantuya inform him that she wanted money in the sum of US$500,000 as a commission for a submarine deal she "assisted" with in Paris;
* At no time whatsoever did Razak and/or Altantuya inform him that Najib met with Altantuya in Singapore;
* At no time whatsoever did Altantuya inform him that she wanted Balasubramaniam to arrange to see Najib;
* At no time did he tell the police during the course of their investigations about any relationship between Najib and Altantuya as no such relationship existed to his knowledge;
* At no time did Razak inform him that he had sent Najib an SMS the evening before he (Razak) was arrested; and
* At no time did Razak inform him that Najib has sent him an SMS on the day of his (Razak) arrest to the effect that he was going to see the IGP that day and that the matter should be resolved and for Razak to remain calm.
Cucu Tok Selampit: Dey Macha .... Yennadai!! Police arrest this man. Don't put him in the jail. Put him in the circus. Clown of the year.
Shortly after withdrawing subsidy for oil, the Government announced that salaries for Government servants would be paid twice a month.
Now the Government has announced it would continue to pay salaries once a month.
One can almost hear the flip followed by the flop.
Cucu Tok Selampit: Very nice snippet, Ayahanda Tun. A lot more flip-flop in the making!
Dealers warned the country's benchmark index could see fall sharply when trade resumed.
Bursa Malaysia, the operator of the stock market exchange, announced the trading halt soon after the opening bell. It has yet to say whether share trading will resume tomorrow.
The benchmark Kuala Lumpur Composite Index has already lost more than 3% so far this week as domestic political uncertainty mounts following sodomy charges against opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.
The index lost 4.9 % in the second quarter of 2008 and is 24% off the January peak of 1,524.69 points.
"People who wanted to sell stocks today but couldn't, will just sell tomorrow," a dealer at a foreign brokerage said.
Asian markets slumped today following steep losses on Wall Street overnight with the Dow Jones Industrial Average officially sinking in the bear territory.
"People are shorting the futures contracts now. Judging from the futures market's performance, I think the spot index could easily drop 5% when the market reopens tomorrow," another dealer said.
Stock index futures and crude palm oil futures on the derivatives exchange had not been affected by the glitches, Bursa said.
"I think it (the outage) affects confidence, especially among foreign investors," said Ang Kok Heng, chief investment officer of Phillip Capital Management in Kuala Lumpur.
But some analysts argued that share prices had already factored in most of the bad news and a rebound may be in the offing.
"After a series of de-ratings, we see little downside risk to the market, given how gloomy sentiment is currently," Citigroup said in a report.
"We are reiterating our positive call on Malaysia on the premise that too much negative news is already in the price."-- REUTERSCucu Tok Selampit: Dear Datuk Yusli, Why this thing happen? Is it because of the government don't want the market to deteriorate further? Is it something to do with Anwar & Najib scandal? Or is it because somebody out there desperate to gain something out of the event. You tell me this is due to faulty hard disc. Where is your "Business Continuity Plan" and where your "Disaster Recovery Plan"? If this scenario happened to the Ah Keong Mini Market or Muthu Workshop, then I can understand. This is a multinational company. In Japan or Taiwan, the CEO of the company and few others sure had tendered their resignation already by this morning. In Malaysia if you gain profit for the year you can asked for 100% salary increment, 16 months of annual bonus or a "golden handshake" but if anything goes wrong, I don't know, I don't care ... its a system problem, nothing I can do. Bullshit!!! CEOs, Ministers, Deputy Ministers in Malaysia when they did something wrong, they don't dare to resign. You are all coward and selfish!! Datuk Yusli, You said that you cannot guarantee that this thing will not recur. What a dumb statement. Better Bursa appoint me as CEO, so that I can provide a better solution and planning.

Memang seekor MUSANG!
Kebimbangan kami nyata berasas.

Seen here in the first images released of her in the role, Ryan will play Jamie Sommers, a tennis pro who suffers a near-fatal skydiving accident before her body is transformed with £25million worth of bionic wizardry.
The actress best known for her role as Zoe Slater in EastEnders beat off stiff competition from Hollywood actresses to land the role.
US TV bosses are so pleased with the pilot, they have commissioned a series which will be shown later this year.
Producers say the pilot show for US network NBC will be a "re-imagination" of the original, a spin-off from cult hit The Six Million Dollar Man, which ran from 1976 to 1978 and starred Lindsay Wagner.
The 23-year-old actress told website Access Hollywood : "I'm a bit of an adrenaline junkie, so I kind of enjoyed it all."
"I know, the title 'Bionic Woman' - everybody has these iconic images, but I think with this series, what they want to do is make it very real...So Jamie Sommers is the girl next door, and she has had sort of a tragic younger life."
The series promises plenty of fighting and high-octane action for fans of the original.
In stills from the show Ryan can be seen leaping from tall buildings, and engaging in martial arts style fighting in the driving rain.
An unknown in the US, except maybe to EastEnders fans, the London-born actress has been quietly working to establish a career for herself in Hollywood.
Ryan has also starred in feature film "I Want Candy" alongside Carmen Electra and upcoming horror movie "Flick" with Faye Dunaway.
Cucu Tok Selampit: I love the series. Recommended for you all. Michelle is hot baby!

Notwithstanding such wild, unfounded and highly subjective speculations, the idiotic de facto Law Minister, Zaid Ibrahim as reported in the mass media, said that there were no grounds to investigate the judge’s misconduct and that the said judge had performed well as a judge.
If a judge can indulge in speculation, I suppose I am entitle to make a few suggestions as to the implications and consequences from the present political situation – the scandal of the murder of the Mongolian girl and the recent police report against Anwar Ibrahim for sodomy.
However, I leave it to you to be the judge, whether what I am writing is pure speculation, the spurious kind of wild suppositions associated with Justice Datuk Ian Chin and or the kind of stupid nonsense so typical of the Law Minister, Zaid Ibrahim.
Before elaborating further, I would like to pose the US$ Trillion question -
Who stands to gain most from the spotlight on the various allegations made against the Deputy Prime Minister and Anwar Ibrahim?
Main Threat Within UMNO
One need not have a PhD in political science to conclude that the main threat to Abdullah Badawi is the Deputy Prime Minister, Najib Tun Razak, notwithstanding that Badawi has announced that Najib is his chosen successor.
I have stated previously that this was merely a tactical move to neutralise Najib in the short term from making any moves to challenge for the Presidency at UMNO elections in December 2008.
It is obvious that should Najib make any moves in the meanwhile, Badawi’s spin doctors will work overtime to accuse Najib of being “ungrateful and power-crazy” when Badawi has already indicated that he would be the successor. These spin doctors would go to the length and breath of the country crying, Why is Najib so impatient? Is he power hungry?
But the reality on the ground is such that the rank and file members are absolutely flabbergasted and angry with Badawi and his theatrics and are already making moves to nominate Najib for Presidency during the branch and division meetings in July.
This is the greatest fear of Badawi and his advisers. They do not want to see a repeat performance master-minded by Anwar Ibrahim when he took on the then Deputy President Tun Ghaffar Baba. Anwar's boys were able to gather enough nominations, that Ghaffar Baba had no choice but to concede defeat, even before the battle commenced.
Khairy, Kamaluddin, the 4th Floor Boys and the baggage of spin doctors from UMNO's controlled-mass media were having sleepless nights and they knew that having chosen Najib as the successor, there is no way for Pak Lah and his band to attack Najib directly.
How can they plunge a dagger to Najib and not be accused for the crime?
Launch a false flag operation. This is a time-tested operation of Intelligence Services all over the world. They plant an idea that there is a Deep Throat who is in possession of critical intelligence and evidence. This Deep Throat then leaks some critical intelligence and evidence to a reliable source for public consumption.
[Recall how Bush and his band of crooks outed and destroyed Valerie Plame’s credentials as a covert CIA agent, just so to discredit Ambassador Wilson’s exposé that Bush was lying about the Yellow cake (Uranium) supposedly purchased by Saddam Hussein from Niger. Valerie Plame is the wife of the Ambassador. These crooks were willing to sacrifice National Security in order to have their war of aggression on behalf of Israel.]
The information was leaked to a journalist who then published it. The journalist becomes the innocent victim of the false flag operation as is always the case!
A dark cloud now hangs over Najib’s integrity and no one can point a finger at Badawi, so they think. Badawi’s spin doctors were confident that the general public would not and could not fathom this false flag operation. If anyone were to question the circumstances, they had a ready-made answer. Why would Badawi want to destroy Najib when he has chosen him as a successor?
Some of us are seasoned political strategists and we can smell a rat a mile away.
Badawi’s smile may disarm some people, some of the time, but he cannot disarm all people all the time with his smile. We have seen his smile enough to know that soon after he smiles at his enemy, he plunges a dagger behind the enemy’s back. So beware if and when he greets you graciously.
When was the dagger plunged into the heart of Najib?
This is the US$ Multi-Trillion question. No one noticed it. It was an almost perfect plan. But they did not count on me seeing through their scheme. Hence my delay in writing this article, as I wanted to see if anyone else noticed this insidious plan!
The dagger was plunged immediately after Anwar Ibrahim accused the government of having conspired in getting a young man to lodge a police report against him for the crime of sodomy.
What did Badawi say about the matter? He denied any involvement but went on to say that he did not think that Najib had any intention to do that.
Anwar never accused Najib. No one did. So why did Badawi, for no rhyme or reason and out of the blues mention Najib in his denial?
This is the time-tested method of intelligence propaganda – you plant an idea by asserting the negative – in this case, the statement that it was not Najib.
By so doing, Badawi is in fact suggesting that Najib could be the culprit for the alleged conspiracy. Hence, the denial by Najib as reported widely in the newspapers. The denial was front page story!
"Mr. Clean” was perceived as “Mr. Clean” when the stupid Wan Azizah, wife of Anwar Ibrahim gave credence to this ploy when he pleaded with Badawi to ensure security for Anwar and a guarantee that Anwar would not be harmed. It follows that the entire PKR did not even consider the probability that Badawi could be involved.
How freaking stupid can one get in the circumstances?
To put himself in a better light, Badawi went so far to say that what happened in 1998 would not be repeated. The Sun Newspaper reported Badawi as having said:
“The government will not do anything to frame or make baseless accusations against any party, so to say that the government will repeat what was considered as a conspiracy, this is not true …”
By implication, Badawi is saying that he will not repeat the conspiracy. He is indirectly accusing the previous administration of conspiracy. This is but another attempt to plant an insidious idea and buttress his so-called “Mr. Clean” image by the use of another negative – that he will not repeat a conspiracy! He has cleverly planted the idea, that what happened before was in fact a conspiracy!
But “Mr. Clean” will not get away with this kind of cheap and dirty propaganda!
The Main Threat Outside UMNO
It is obvious that it is Anwar Ibrahim. Badawi on taking power as prime minister used the Anwar factor to his advantage to further project his so-called “kind and clean” image. The release of Anwar from jail after his acquittal by the Federal Court on the charge of sodomy was exploited to the fullest by Badawi’s spin doctors. PKR went for it - hook, line and sinker!
Having neutralised Najib with the planted intelligence that he was somehow implicated in a criminal case (so they believe), the next target must be focused on the threat outside UMNO.
Another US$ trillion question – Why now this police report on sodomy against Anwar?
Already PKR boys are accusing Najib of the conspiracy, and the mass media by carrying the denial by Najib seem to lend credence to the allegation first hinted by Badawi, the prime minister.
Now the spot light is focused on the two persons who pose the greatest threat to Badawi’s power and access to the national money-making machine!
The modus operandi and the strategy is that the public’s attention will be diverted from the financial mess as a result of Badawi’s mismanagement and negligence of the economy and the rampant corruption. Hopefully, the disaster of the March General Elections will also be forgotten!
To muddy the waters further, Badawi and his spin doctors are preparing the next phase – to provoke and instigate a feud between Najib and Anwar so that they will be so engrossed with each other and so exhausted by the exercise, that the two will not be able to focus on overthrowing Badawi.
Phase 2 is the Second Dagger that will be plunged into Najib! This is a given. And unless Najib sees through Badawi’s ploy, he will end up as dead meat before July is over!
There are other beneficiaries in this once-in-a-lifetime “Bollywood Drama". Suffice to say at this stage, they are waiting for the outcome of this slug-fest.
I have no wish to distract the public by revealing the beneficiaries. We should and must focus on Badawi.
This is the ultimate culprit. He is the mess!
He is the political chameleon and he will bring this country down!
Focus on him first and at all times. He is the number one problem. Period!
Badawi has ruined the entire nation.
To the Malays, he has destroyed all your hard work and stolen and or destroyed your community’s crown jewels.
If the Malays want to survive as a community and as a race, you have only one choice.

Portal: PKR adviser did not deny visiting condo
KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has never denied going to the Desa Damansara condominium here where his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan claimed he was sodomised, Internet news portal Malaysiakini reported.
“I (have) never said that I have never been there,” Anwar said, adding that he would elaborate on the issue later.
Last night, one of his aides told The Star: “It is an occupied unit which belongs to one of his friends and he held meetings with top civil servants there. They discussed business and political matters.”
Malaysiakini also reported that Anwar refused to entertain a question on whether Saiful had ever accompanied him overseas. It said, press reports had claimed that Saiful had also alleged that he was sodomised by Anwar when they were both overseas.
Datuk Seri kena ulas tu. Pening kepalo den!
Hamid: Anwar just a snich
KUALA LUMPUR: PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should not be reporting to Washington every time he faces a crisis in the country, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar.
Describing Anwar as “tukang lapor” (snitch) for the United States, Syed Hamid said Anwar always reported back to Washington.
“If he wants to be the leader of this country, he should stop doing this,” he said.
Syed Hamid also said that Washington had no right to intervene in Malaysia's domestic affairs.
“Moreover, this matter is still under investigation and there is still no conclusion yet,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby yesterday.
He said politicians and prominent figures were not excluded from being investigated or governed by the law.
“This is not politics but an issue that involves some allegations that need to be investigated, so please do not politicise it,” he said.
On whether the country is threatened by Washington’s warning, Syed Hamid said: “The United States always tries to warn small states like us but we have never been threatened or feel threatened by it as there is a system of international law.”
In Bangkok, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said he would write to US State Department spokesman Tom Casey asking him to explain under what rudimentary law Washington wanted “to oppose any use of law enforcement or judicial procedures” in regard to the sodomy allegation against Anwar.
“The Government feels it is an outright infringement of the sovereignty of an independent country. Malaysia is a rule of law country within the international community concept,” he said after visiting the Malaysian Embassy yesterday.
Dr Rais, who is on a three-day visit to Thailand, said the police should be allowed to conduct their investigations within the law.
However, DAP chairman Karpal Singh said other countries had all the right to make necessary observations on Malaysia regarding Anwar’s case.
“We have made observations against other countries, their legal and political system.
“Likewise, other countries have the right to make necessary comments regarding this case,” he said.
He said Malaysia was not in isolation and many countries were watching it to ensure that justice was served.
“It has always been a stand of many countries after what happened in 1998, where Anwar was charged with sodomy and later cleared by the Federal Court, that there were political elements and conspiracy involved,” he said.
Karpal Singh also called on those concerned not to carry out “a trial in the press” by speculating over the evidence procured by the police.
Cucu Tok Selampit: Datuk Seri, Datuk Seri .... Dari dulu hingga sekarang perangai tak ubah-ubah. Ada masalah sikit lapor dengan US. Kena gigit nyamuk, lapor dengan US. Apa ni. Macam mana nak jadi Perdana Menteri macam ni. Macam kapal pecah. Cakap macam orang nyanyuk saja.
